Saturday Night, by Archibald J. Motley Jr

This image is about black musicians and dancers enjoying their time in this club located in Harlem, New York. There was a period of time where it was prohibited to drink alcohol. The Whites heard about this club and they came to take a sip of some alcohol and take their time observing these magnificent, talented dancers and and musicians. African American usually perform swing dancing, which is a traditional dance passed on to Blacks. The whites was amazed how well they did it.

This image is reflected on Negro Heritage and History because the image tell us about how great their dance is and is created by them. You need to be really skilled in order to portray the incredible effect within Swing.

I chose this image because it really stands out to me. I like how there's a lot of texture the artist had made because it gives you a kind of feeling where they're really relax and comfortable.

Jazz Drawing

This painting is about how Blacks value dancing and musics. In this image, the guy in the hat is really enjoying himself by dancing, but he kinda feels uncomfortable because there's a person in a mask who kept staring at him. This image expresses what Black culture is, like what they value the most, but it also tells us that the whites were teasing them by wearing a mask pretending to be like them.
The HR theme that is pervasive throughout this poem is Anger at Racism and Negro Heritage and History. Racism because what the guy in the mask is doing is offensive to Blacks. History because it tells us about the history of Black Culture and how it was like back then.
I cose this image because I saw it on google and I thinks it's pretty cool and outstanding, so I pick this image.

Acceptance by Langston Hughes

God in His infinite wisdom
Did not make me very wise-
So when my actions are stupid
They hardly take God by surprise

In the poem, "Acceptance," Hughes uses rhythm and metaphor to convey the fact that we have to accept the limit of our wisdom and the knowledge to do the right thing. Hughes said. "did not make me very wise/my actions are stupid. Hughes is using metaphor to tell us that our wisdom is limited by comparing it with God. He's using rhythm by saying, "Did not make me very wise/ They hardly take God by surprise. He uses rhythm to tell us that we have to follow the things that we believe in, like the beat of the rhythms.

The HR theme that this poem pervade throughout the peom is Determination to fight against oppression because the poem is saying that we don't have a lot of wisdom, but we can still do it by depending on ourselves and not others. We have to accept the fact that we can't do much compare to God, but we can still do it if we try.

I chose this poem because it's short but meaningful. It also reflects some of the HR theme, so I chose this poem. I like the rhythm that is pervasive throughout the poem making it sounds good and smooth.
